Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 14, 2025
Welcome
This is a platform for sharing anonymous love letters. We believe in keeping things simple, transparent, and respectful of your privacy. This policy explains what happens when you use our site.
What We Collect
When You Submit a Letter
The letter content you write
The date and time you submitted it
That's it. No names, no emails, no accounts.
When You Visit the Site
Your IP address is temporarily processed by Google Fonts to deliver the website's typography
Basic server logs (standard web hosting stuff - which pages were accessed and when)
What We Don't Collect
No personal information
No email addresses
No tracking or analytics
No cookies
No advertising data
Nothing that identifies you
How We Use Your Data
Your Letters
We store them in a database (Google Firebase)
We display them anonymously to other visitors
That's the entire purpose of this platform
Technical Data
Google Fonts processes your IP address to load fonts (we don't control this)
Server logs help us keep the site running (standard practice)
We don't analyze, profile, sell, or share your data with anyone. Ever.
Data Storage & Security
Where: Your letters are stored in Google Firebase servers (located in the USA and EU, depending on configuration)
How Long: Letters remain on the platform indefinitely unless you request deletion
Security: We use industry-standard security practices, but remember - your letters are public and anonymous by design
Third-Party Services
We use two external services:
Google Firebase (Database)
Purpose: Stores the anonymous letters
Data Shared: Letter content and timestamps only
Privacy Policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Fonts (Typography)
Purpose: Makes the site look good with nice fonts
Data Shared: Your IP address is processed when fonts load
Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Both services are provided by Google LLC, based in the USA.
Your Rights (GDPR)
You have rights under EU data protection law:
Right to Deletion
Since letters are anonymous, we can't identify which one is yours. But if you remember the exact content or date, email us and we'll remove it.
Right to Access
All letters are already publicly visible on the site (that's the point!). There's nothing hidden.
Right to Object
You can request we stop processing your data by asking us to delete your letter.
Right to Complain
If you're unhappy with how we handle data, contact your local data protection authority.
To exercise any rights, email: ts@halfodd.com
Children's Privacy
This site is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If we discover a letter was submitted by someone under 16, we'll delete it immediately.
International Data Transfers
Letters are stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located outside the EU (including the USA). Google provides appropriate safeguards under GDPR (Standard Contractual Clauses).
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We won't make changes that affect already-submitted letters without notice.
Anonymous = Limited Control
Important: Because this platform is designed for anonymity, we can't:
Send you notifications about your specific letter
Let you edit letters after submission
Link letters back to you
This is by design. Anonymity protects you, but also means you can't manage your letters like a traditional account-based service.
Contact Us
Questions? Concerns? Want to request deletion?
Email: ts@halfodd.com
Response Time: We aim to respond within 7 days
Legal Stuff
Data Controller: half odd creative lab
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Legal Basis for Processing: Legitimate interest (providing an anonymous letter-sharing platform)
That's It
We keep things simple because we respect your privacy. No tracking, no ads, no nonsense. Just anonymous letters and clean code.
If you have questions or just want to say hi, we'd love to hear from you.

You Own Your Words
You retain all rights to what you write. We don't claim ownership.
But You Grant Us Rights
By submitting a letter, you give us permission to:
Store it in our database
Display it publicly on the platform
Keep it available indefinitely (unless you request deletion)
You're Responsible
You promise that:
Your letter doesn't violate anyone's rights
You're not breaking any laws
The content is yours (not plagiarized)
You're at least 16 years old
Our Rights
We can:
Remove any letter for any reason (or no reason)
Shut down the platform at any time
Change these terms (we'll update the date if we do)
Ban abusive users (though you're anonymous, so... we'll just delete stuff)
We're not obligated to monitor content, but we will remove anything inappropriate if we see it or if it's reported.

Mental health crisis: Contact emergency services or a crisis hotline
Need support: Seek professional help from licensed therapists
Sharing here can be cathartic, but it's not a replacement for professional care.

Your privacy matters. Read our Privacy Policy above to understand how we handle data.
Key point: Letters are public and anonymous. Once posted, anyone can read them. Don't share information you wouldn't want public.

Liability
We're not liable for:
Content posted by users
Emotional impact of reading letters
Technical issues or data loss
Third-party services (Firebase, Google Fonts)
Anything that happens because you used this platform
Use at your own risk. We built this with care, but things happen.

Termination
You can stop using the platform anytime (just close the browser).
We can terminate your access if you violate these terms (by removing your content and blocking your IP if necessary).
Changes to Terms
We can update these terms. If we make major changes, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the platform means you accept the new terms.
Entire Agreement
These terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between us. They replace any prior agreements or understandings.
